There is some indication that the 14 studies are from the third meeting of an annual BMI workshop, held sometime in 2009, perhaps in conjunction with the German conference on artificial intelligence, this year's focused on smart environments. Reflecting the actual directions of research in the field, the papers tend to consider either motion patterns or ambient assisted living. Contributors from computer science and other technical fields and from medical and biological sciences consider such topics are methods and experiences of monitoring pedestrian behavior, classifying collective motion, the praxis of cognitive assistance in smart homes, learning about preferences and common behavior of the user in an intelligent environment, and ambient spatial intelligence.
