Haack (humanities, philosophy, and law; U. of Miami) says her goal is not to add more fuel to the Science Wars, but to articulate a new perspective on what science is and does. She defends the pretension of science to proclaim how the world is, but in only a quite modest and qualified way, and within the boundaries of human cognitive capacities and limitations.
