This is a reprint of British mathematics professor Alfred North Whitehead's (1861-1947) famed publication (Cambridge University Press, 1920), which greatly influenced the fields of science and mathematics. The work is cited in Books for College Libraries, 3rd ed. Whitehead argues that nature consists only of what the senses perceive. Influenced by Einstein's theory of relativity, Whitehead thought that ideas used in mathematics and physics, which are not directly identified through the senses, could be described in terms of the things that the senses do perceive.
