Prolific crime writer Philbin collects the words of twenty serial killers from court documents, police transcripts, and their own writings to show, as best as possible, the inner workings of their minds. As he states in his introduction, the text is not everyone's cup of tea, as all of the writing is quite disturbing. The text devotes a chapter to each killer and includes Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and even Jack the Ripper.
