Spacemate is a diagram that makes spatial relationships measurable in terms of foot square index (intensity of an area), ground space index (compactness of an area) open space ratio (pressure on a non-built space) and layer(s), the average number of floors in an area. In this treatment of this commercial product, the authors explain density in terms of criteria and measurement methods and the floor space index v. the land index. They also define the various indices, ratios and layers, describe conducting research for low-rise, mid-rise and high-rise developments, and make conclusions about the use of the product in questions of urbanization and utilization.
