Lee (communication, William Paterson U., Wayne, New Jersey) presents a compilation of 27 interviews conducted with Asian Americans from a range of occupations--students, politicians, a lawyer, an educator, a photographer, musicians, a corporate professional, an engineer, a restaurant owner, a deliveryman, and a law enforcement officer--which reveal changes in Asian American identity since publication of Lee's last book 20 years ago. Primarily from the East and West Coasts, the interviewees include people who immigrated to the U.S. as adults, individuals who arrived here as children, and others who were born and raised in the U.S. The material is organized into three sections: "Living in America" addresses arrival, resettlement, and growing up; "Aspects of Americanization" focuses on specific events and topics such as personal career choices, passions, and values; and "Journeys and Passages" explores the challenges and joys of family relationships across cultures.
