The techniques described can be used in routine reliability engineering and risk studies in numerous engineering disciplines. The guide is written for both practicing professionals and engineering students; it assumes little or no background in probability and statistics, with focus on each techniques' uses and limitations rather than detailed derivations. Early chapters define reliability, availability, and risk analysis, and review reliability mathematics, probability, and statistics. Reliability methods applied to component reliability are then described. Later chapters cover system reliability analysis, repairable components and systems, reliability modeling, reliability data analysis, and risk analysis, with examples and chapter exercises included. This second edition offers new and expanded material on topics such as probability plotting, maximum likelihood estimation of censored data, and uncertainty analysis.
