<DIV>The legal and financial instruments currently employed by countries and regions to safeguard their intangible heritage, which includes oral traditions, memories, languages, traditional performing arts or rituals, knowledge systems, and values are analyzed in this research report. Methods of preservation are identified and analyzed and recommendations for cultural policymakers are offered. The report stresses the importance of protecting a region's cultural capital, local identity, and global cultural diversity.<br></div>
