LeMonds (a high school English teacher and writer who has written for several Pacific Northwest newspapers) draws on his own experience in a multi-generation Pacific Northwest logging family to tell the stories of those who work in the timber industry, the attractions of the work, the pitfalls, the difficulty of changing one's profession, and the role of the big lumber companies.
