Envisioning a ready-reference for students of antiquity and a handy resource for archaeological fieldwork, Wright (formerly of the U. of Munich) covers the formulations of projects (drawings, specifications), site surveying and development, and the use of various building materials from pre-history to the end of antiquity. Some 400 fully captioned illustrations support the text. During much of his life the author has pursued his passion for recording and restoring monuments in many parts of the world and has written extensively about the technicalities of restoration projects as well as about the history of architecture and the history or religion.
