Shortly after her birth in the Philippines in 1912, Angeles Monrayo's family relocated to Hawaii to work on plantations. As a teenager, Monrayo moved with her father to California. This volume presents the text of the diaries she kept from 1924 to 1928. Two scholarly essays place the diaries within the context of the Filipino migration to the United States.
