The text (primarily a photography book) shows off some of the remarkable historic architecture in three of Philadelphia's old neighborhoods: East Falls, Manayunk, and Roxborough. Each chapter begins with a history of the neighborhood, and makes note of important sites. Dwellings and streets of note are discussed in depth, and there are almost five hundred color photographs displaying a great many styles. Each structure depicted also states the year built, style, location, and architect and client, if applicable. The text ends with biographies of select architects and firms.
