Before television and internet the world was a different place, but in 1865 some seven million people came together to witness the funeral procession of President Abraham Lincoln from Washington D.C. to Springfield, Illinois. Reed relies heavily on primary documents and artifacts to tell the story of the 440 cities that the procession visited on its trip. Each page includes photographs of important historical evidence from the time.
