Holubow presents readers with a photographic exploration of decaying structures throughout the United States. The author has organized the main body of his text in six chapters, each devoted to the human behavior carried out originally in the structure he has photographed. There are photos of decaying structures designed for work, for living, for healing, for playing and for praying. Each photograph is accompanied by a brief description of the location, original function of the structure, and its current disposition.
