Golding, a clinical psychologist, author, and trainer in the UK, demonstrates how to use stories with traumatized children ages four to 16 in counseling, life story work, or direct work. She presents 21 stories she has developed in her work with foster and adopted children and details how they can be expanded or adapted for individual children. Each includes background, the story type, themes, and the age range, and they relate to themes regarding looking back and moving on; coping with fear and without trust; controlling behaviors, self-reliance, and independence; attention; learning about relationships; and stories for parents and practitioners.
