In 11 papers from their May 2002 workshop at Michigan State University, contributors examine what they believe to be the overwhelming importance of vision in language processing. The papers begin with a review of recent literature, and an introductory essay on perception for psycholinguists. They are followed by papers on cognitive and linguistic processing in eye tracking, fixation and movement while reading and discerning spoken language.
