The original edition of this book, now out of print, was commissioned to commemorate the Tercentenary of The Royal Welch Fusiliers in 1989. Retaining the same title, this work takes the history of the Royal Welch Fusiliers up through 2006, when the regiment ceased to exist as an independent entity, with a new chapter on the period from1945 to 1989, and a new chapter on the period from the end of the Cold War through the amalgamation of the regiment in 2006. The book is well-illustrated with numerous color and b&w historical and contemporary photos, drawings, and maps. About 30 pages of appendices list recipients of various awards and holders of various titles. Riley is duty commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan. He holds a PhD in history.
