Using data from the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, and Ireland, the author examines both how young people are influenced by entertainment media, and the degree to which young people's beliefs differ from those of parents, teachers, and peers. Jackson's findings suggest that, rather than falling into neat right/left patterns, the media's influence interacts with parental and peer influence in complex and surprising ways.
