While most of the writings of Marxist sociologist and philosopher Henri Lefebvre (1901-1991) concerning cities and sociospatial theory have been translated into English and widely discussed, his "equally innovative works on state theory, the spatiality of modern statehood, and the process of globalization have received much less attention," according to Brenner (sociology, New York U., US) and Elden (political geography, Durham U., UK), who here attend to that neglect by presenting newly translated essays on those subjects, penned by Lefebvre between 1964 and 1986.
