Stressing the importance of the economic advantages of civil communication, Troester and Mester (associate professor and senior lecturer, respectively, in speech communication at Penn State Erie) summarize what communication theory has to say about civility and apply the theory and philosophy of civil communication to business and professional contexts. In the theoretical chapters they discuss civility in history, business communication civility and quality of life issues, business communication civility and profits, nonverbal civility, and intercultural civility.
