After the fall of the Soviet Union, the Gypsies began building homes in Romania and the Republic of Moldova which must be seen to be believed. Enormous in size (most are constructed of brick), they are coated with flashy decoration, from ground level up to their rooftops, which are covered in ornate metalwork. This volume captures these unexpected palaces in excellent photos of their exteriors and equally gaudy interiors, with proud owners often included, in full-page color plates in an oversize format (9.75x12").
