For the 21 essays in this truly international volume, Messenger, a grants consultant for the Institute for Advanced Study at the U. of Minnesota, and Smith (Southeast Archaeological Center), who co-chair the Heritage Values Interest Group of the Society for American Archaeology, bring together archaeologists, anthropologists, development specialists, and others from around the world who present multiple perspectives on the study, management, protection, and interpretation of places and objects that represent histories, traditions, and cultural identities in various countries.
