Through the stories of real-life teacher leaders and administrators, Donaldson (education, University of Maine) depicts the evolution of understanding, skills, and self-confidence among professionals as they navigate their way toward effective leadership performance. Early chapters of the book outline a new model of leadership knowledge and examine central themes in the learning process. Later chapters delve more deeply into the nature of interpersonal and intrapersonal learning, drawing on journal entries, self-assessments, and other reflections by principals and teacher leaders who participated in three different leadership development programs in Maine.
