This book promotes the use of maps and geographic information systems (GIS) across the undergraduate liberal arts curriculum. Sinton (former chief program officer for Latitude, a collaborative GIS initiative at the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education) and Lund (faculty technology liaison for the social sciences, Wheaton College) first presents chapters discussing general pedagogical issues connected to mapping and GIS, including critical and creative visual thinking, narratives of time and space, mapping and quantitative reasoning, and campus-community collaborations.
