Addai-Mensah taught and ministered at St. Peter Regional Seminary in his native Ghana for ten years before traveling to the US to study. In this revision of his Ph.D. dissertation in sacred theology for the Weston Jesuit School of Theology in Massachusetts, he suggests how Catholic institutions can help protect children and teenagers from being recruited so easily into Africa's wars, and can instead become ambassadors and messengers of peace particularly in West Africa but also across the whole continent. Among his topics are the historical background and contemporary context, maturity and male identity formation, communion and solidarity with male youth as a missiological imperative, and towards an inculturated catechesis.
