Having now ascended, or is it descended, to the status of frequent presidential candidate, Nader's past as the leading "crusader for the consumers" has seemed to pale in comparison. However, this text, written for high school students and general readership, examines Nader's upbringing amongst socially aware people and brings back the days of the Nader's Raiders and other campaigns to hold corporations and government agencies responsible for their public and private behavior. Marcello, a freelance biographer, includes the years after Nader's rise to prominence which were marked by the decline and increasing disinterest of his constituency, followed by recent years in which the mere presence of Nader on the ballot probably determined national politics.
