Addressing the need for those with autistic family members to share their stories, Cumberland (English, Winona State U.) and Mills (English, Kalamazoo College), who both have family members with autism, collect 16 accounts of siblings of different ages and cultures who share their experiences of growing up with a brother or sister on the autism spectrum. Their stories illustrate commonalities, the struggle to accept difference, the issue of being overlooked, the variety of emotions involved, the yearning to connect across neurological difference, and the worry that their own children will have autism.
