The editors (professors of English at Kent State U.) present 15 essays exploring the writings of "cyberpunk" author William Gibson, who is perhaps best known for 1984's Neuromancer. There appears to be no particular unifying theme to the collection and authors address a wide range of concerns, including the Gibson's verbal construction of character and 19th century feminist Elizabeth Cady Stanton's concept of "total personhood," the problematization of the idea of memory in advanced information technology societies, the role of the body in Gibson's disembodied cyberspaces, Gibson's use of the Gothic trope of the ruin or isolated castle, and Gibson as postmodern neoprimitivist.
