Phillips, a veteran science teacher, and Tate, a school administrator, present 20 strategies for getting K-12 students excited about science, and 250 activities and lesson plans for applying the strategies in a range of K-12 science subjects, including physical, life, earth, and space science. The 20 strategies, including games, field trips, movement and music, and journals, activate different areas of the brain and will appeal to students with visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and verbal learning styles. Each strategy chapter defines the strategy, overviews the theoretical framework for using it to teach science, and suggests many instructional activities, from music and storytelling to experiments and spreadsheet projects. The activities are connected to specific national science content standards. Chapters end with space for readers' own reflections. Unfortunately, there are no reproducibles.
