The Battle of North Cape took place in the northern part of Norway during WWII. Although the battle accomplished the sinking of Germany's last operational capital warship, the Scharnhorst, in December 1943, it has long been ignored by historians. This book argues that the Battle of North Cape was just as significant strategically as other major naval battles of WWII, such as the sinking of the Bismarck. Konstam, a military historian, begins with background on the parties of the conflict, the order of battle, and ship specifications. He then presents a day-by-day chronicle of the seven-day campaign, drawing on journals and memoirs of participants. The book includes many b&w historical photos and maps.
