For most of the 15 or so centuries of folded-paper art, the figures were created by intuition and trial-and-error, says Lang, and even most modern instruction books only demonstrate how to fold particular figures. He, however, developed a mathematical method that he has used to create over 500 figures, and shares that foundation here.
