<DIV><p>In Designing Multi-Device Experiences, author Michal Levin discusses how UX design is currently evolving beyond the boundaries of the single-device model. Until recently, design models for online products considered only the standalone computer or laptop as the platform. Now, in our increasingly multi-device world, a user’s experience with one application can span many devices--a smart phone, a tablet, a computer, the TV, and beyond. In response to this reality, Michal introduces and explores three key patterns she identifies as critical to addressing multi-device design: consistent, complementary, and continuous.<br><br> Michal shows how “the 3Cs” are emerging in product design models in a variety of industries, like gaming, publication and even sports and entertainment. She explores new ways to grow product ecosystems by applying this model more thoughtfully, encouraging product designers to use an ecosystem design approach to develop the richest possible experience for the consumer. In addition, she sees opportunities to employ this approach in new and emerging spaces like home solutions, education, and even health care. Finally, she advocates for a new data analytics model that provides a comprehensive view of ecosystem performance.</p></div>
