Author Daniel Jackson present an examination of the Japanese occupation and the liberation of Southwest China at the hands of Chinese and U.S. forces. The author has organized the main body of his text in fourteen roughly chronological chapters devoted to the taking of Burma and Southwest China by the Japanese 15th Army, the Japanese occupation; the political infighting between Roosevelt, Chiang Kai-shek and the generals on the field; and the retaking of the area by a Chinese expeditionary force backed by American supplies, advisors, and air forces.
