Using fictitious dialogues between counselors and their clients, in addition to counselors and their supervisors, Bryant-Jefferies demonstrates the person-centered approach to treating women with eating disorders. He discusses the theory behind this approach, as well as Rogers' stages of psychological change. The accounts, which follow the sessions of two fictional clients suffering from binge-eating and being underweight, include feelings and thoughts of those in the dialogue and comments on the process. The book is aimed at trainees, counselors, and women with eating disorders, their friends and families. Bryant-Jefferies, a counselor and therapist at the Central and North West London Mental Health NHS Trust, is the author of several other books using the person-centered approach.
