Standard statistics textbooks only briefly cover how to display data and even major medical journals are plagued by poor data display, according to Freeman and her coauthors (Medical Statistics Group, U. of Sheffield). Following an introduction to types of data and bad data display, they offer recommendations for conveying categorical and quantitative results in tables and graphs in a manner useful for researchers and readers of health studies.
