Much has been written on translations and editions of Chinese bibles, that is not duplicated by the scholars of religion and of Chinese history here. Rather they focus on how Scripture has been read in China from the 19th century to the 21st, and the hermeneutics of specific contemporary biblical exegetes and their approaches to reading. Among their topics are the 19th-century context, studying the New Testament in the Chinese academy, Wu Leichuan's practice and contribution to Chinese biblical hermeneutics, and Confucian Catholics' appropriation of the Decalogue.
