This volume brings together the findings of the Terrorist Perspectives Project, launched by the Institute for Defense Analyses in the fall of 2004 under the sponsorship of the Joint Center for Operational Analysis and the US Joint Forces Command in order to identify and analyze the strategic and operational perspectives of al Qaeda and associated movements. It focuses entirely therefore on analyzing documents produced by leading figures of Salafi jihadism, rather than "radical Islam" in general.
