Humorously subtitled "The Wrath of Kant," this book examines the relationship between Star Trek and various schools of philosophy, and enlists the help of 21 professional philosophers to show how the theories of philosophers such as Wittgenstein and Nietzsche made their way into the scripts of a network television show. Editors Eberl (Indiana University) and Decker (Eastern Washington University) have collected these essays which comment upon themes of the original series as well as offshoots such as The Next Generation and Enterprise. With its lengthy academic analyses, this book will appeal more to philosophy students than Trekkies, but these contributors have obviously written these articles for those readers who are both.
