Author Cornish, who has written other books on Russian military history, collects a wealth of b&w historical photos of battle and its aftermath in Russia during WWII, depicting Soviet armies as well as German and Axis armed forces on the Eastern Front. Each chronological chapter begins with an overview of developments, then presents the photos with detailed captions. The photos are from Russian museums and archives, and many have never been published before in the West. The book is distributed in the US by Casemate.
