In this companion text to Understanding global social policy (2008), Yeates (social policy, The Open U., UK) and Holden (global health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine) have selected key texts published since the mid-1990s on the global and transnational dimensions of social policy and practice. As with the other volume, the reader emphasizes the transnational structures, institutions, and policy processes that underlie contemporary social organization, social welfare, and well-being. Thirty-eight readings are presented in sections on the ways globalization processes are impacting understandings of social policy; global poverty and inequality; global policy actors, institutions, and processes; and contemporary debates about the transformation of global social policy.
