In this introductory guide intended for both native and non-native English speakers, Russey (chemistry, Juniata College), Ebel, an author and former editor, and Bliefert (chemistry, U. of Applied Sciences, Germany) explain how to write a thesis or dissertation in the natural sciences. Their aim is to focus on the basics--writing style and technique; components of a thesis such as the abstract, definition of the problem, results, experimental section, and bibliography; and elements such as footnotes, numbers, mathematical expressions, tables, and figures. Examples and study questions are included in each chapter. There is no bibliography. The authors have also co-written The Art of Scientific Writing.
