Topics addressed include biology and husbandry, clinical signs and procedures, and specific diseases and their diagnoses. The material has been substantially revised to reflect developments in management and diseases since publication of the 1995 fourth edition. Major changes include updating of previously described conditions; adding descriptions of new diseases, refined techniques such as medical imaging, and husbandry practices; adding information on chinchillas; deletion or modification of some case reports, and the addition of new ones; thorough revision of the references including the addition of online resources; and the addition of 200-plus new b&w photographs to replace the line drawings of previous editions.
