This thoughtfully produced study presents analysis of daily life based on archaeological excavation at four sites in Sweden, Skinnerud, Skramle, Saxholmen, and Edsholm. A lengthy introduction presents the methodology of the work, followed by separate sections on landscape and settlement and on artefacts and habitation. The remainder of the work compares the Swedish sites with similar excavated sites in Northern Europe, specifically in England, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, and the Czech Republic. In both sections, consideration is given to daily life in the castle and the hamlet, village, or farm nearby.
