This work is based on presentations given at a February 2006 conference held at the Georgia Institute of Technology. In order to achieve more cohesive integration of measurement and psychological theory and overcome limitations of the psychometric model, contributors from the US, Europe, and Canada offer alternatives to traditional item-response theory's fixed-content/multiple-choice models. Part I presents model-based approaches to measuring qualitative differences between individuals, and Part II describes approaches to isolating entangled constructs. Part III details model-based approaches for measuring personality, psychopathology, and attitudes from self-reports, and Part V presents cognitive psychometric models for interactive item generation.
