When the US conducted "Operation Vigilant Resolve," the full-scale seige of the Iraqi city of Fallujah in April 2004, American television viewers were not shown what was actually going on within the city itself, as all of the American network journalists covering the story were "embedded" with occupation forces. The Arabic satellite network al-Jazeera, on the other hand, had a small team operating within the city, much to the American government's displeasure, and now one of the correspondents from that team, Ahmed Mansour, provides his account of the operation, the "stage for countless war crimes," together with analysis of events before and after, including the second major attack on Fallujah, "Operation Phantom Fury," which took place in November of that same year and was, according to Mansour, "an act of bitter revenge for the defeat suffered by American forces the first time around."
