Casey (public affairs, Baruch College, City U. of New York) addresses international policing responses to new dimensions of crime such as terrorism, e-crime, and human trafficking that are increasingly global. He explores three key areas: comparative policing and the creation of international good practice, cooperative efforts to respond to transnational and international crime threats, and peace operations and capacity building in post-conflict and transnational societies. He discusses policing models around the world, with case studies of Belize, Norway, and Uganda; cross-national comparisons of policing strategies and the challenges of transferring operational approaches from one country to another; the growth of international and transnational crime and operational responses to it; international arrangements between agencies; and the implications of the military-police-civilian interface.
