This work offers a tutorial presentation of mixed-signal design (MSD) techniques, integrating netlists and simulation examples available for download from a web site. The first chapter provides background on basic signals, filters, and tools. Coverage moves on to sampling and aliasing, analog and digital filtering, noise, and signal-to-noise ratios. The rest of the book describes the design of data converters using MSD techniques and the associated trade-offs. The last chapter presents a high-speed topology that uses MSD techniques that may prove useful in ultimately replacing the pipeline ADC in nanometer CMOS technology nodes. Homework exercises are included. The book can be used as a text for senior undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering courses, and as a reference for professional engineers. Readers are assumed to have background in signals/systems, and previous courses in digital and analog integrated circuit design in CMOS technology. Baker is an engineer, educator, and inventor.
