Paul (teaching and learning, The Ohio State U.) has revised the fourth edition of his textbook for students and practitioners of American Sign Language to include new chapters on writing and literate thought and updated information on cued speech/language, cochlear implants and the use of ASL as a second language. The author covers all of the language and communications systems of deaf and hard-of-hearing children and adolescents, and describes the steps for linking language and cognition.
