This text for a one-quarter course covers concepts and practical concerns in engineering economics, incorporating contemporary computer-oriented tools for financial decision-making. It explains the basis upon which the practice of financial project analysis is built, and provides background information that engineers need to make informed decisions when acting as a team member or project manager for an engineering project. Changes to this second edition include all new chapter-opening vignettes. Examples have been reformatted into four categories of dissecting the problem, methodology, solution, and comments. There is enhanced material on the analytical treatment of risk and uncertainty. Excel modeling techniques are now introduced throughout the text. A cumulative self-test with answers is also new to this edition. The book can be used as a text for an introductory engineering economics course for students in all areas of engineering.
