Rather than recommending strict adherence to one method, this book works from the assumption that all professional development models can succeed if properly implemented. The book identifies and describes five types of contemporary models of professional development for educators: models that support individuals, collaborative models such as mentoring and coaching, cooperative models, models designed to achieve curricular and instructional change, and the traditional workshop model.
